Course coins
From 1948 till 2001 there were manufactured over 1500 different course coins from 1 Pfennig to 5 DM in different editions. They according differ to the declared value (like 1 Pfg, 2 Pfg, 5 Pfg, 10 Pfg, 50 Pfg, 1 DM, 2 DM, 5 DM), the motives (see different 2-DM-coins), the embossing years, the embossing places (A, D, F, G and J) and in addition come still the false coinages.
Collecting the course coins experiences, under the introduction of the euro in the year 2002, a strongly rising interest with therefore prices risen strongly!
Some of these course coins are meanwhile very rare and obtain high prices, which lie far over 500-multiple of the nominal value.
But NOTE! , do not run directly with a scratched, abraded coin to a coindealer, in order to exchange these against cash (so do not order a new car). They could be disappointed! One collects (straight with the course money) only whenn the coin is in perfect condition. Only very few course coins are collected in only “good” condition. Although, even if the coin should not be any more “branch clean”, waive the rare pieces. It does not eat bread, in some years receives you with highest probability a whole corner more than only the momentary nominal value. Please you consider also our preceding information.
